How it works...
The life force of Reiki flows within the physical body through pathways known as chakras and meridians, and flows beyond the body in an unseen field of energy called an aura. When this life energy is disrupted by stress of any kind, diminished function and disease may result.
During a Reiki session, the practitioner acts as a conduit for this life force energy through the laying on of hands. During a session, the Reiki recipient lies on a padded table, fully clothed, and every attention is paid to insure the recipient's complete comfort.
The practitioner then scans the recipient's body for blocked or unbalanced energy. By placing her hands over the recipient's chakras, the practitioner focuses the energy of Reiki toward balancing and opening a healthy flow of energy. Reiki "works" by flowing through the affected areas in the energy field, charging them with positive energy, and restoring harmony.
The effects of Reiki are always positive, serving the recipient's greatest good. The recipient benefits from the deep relaxation created by the Reiki energy, and by the realignment of energy flow through his/her body.
During a session, one may experience warmth, relaxation, renewed energy, colors or images, and an overall sense of well-being. Sessions generally last sixty to ninety minutes.
